FARMINGTON - Iris E. Strout, 82, of Turmel Road, Livermore Falls, died Saturday afternoon, Nov. 9, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, where she was a patient following a short illness.
Born at Farmington, June 19, 1914, the daughter of Levi and Vinnie Bean Lord, she received her education in the East Wilton school system.
Mrs. Strout was married to Basil Strout of Poland in November of 1930 at Wilton and he died in 1966. She later married Wordsworth Strout in 1968 and he died in 1979.
She worked in the local shoe shop and retired from Norwalk Shoe Shop in 1974. She made her home with her daughter, Louise Jones.
Mrs. Strout was a charter member of the Wayside Bible Baptist Church at Livermore, a member of the New Norland Grange and the Triple Town Swingers. She enjoyed growing African violets and house plants.
She liked to do fancy work, knitting, afghans and sweaters. Her time with her grandchildren was very rewarding.
Survivors include two daughters, Louise Jones of Livermore Falls and Beverly Wright of Wilton; two sons, Richard of Plymouth, Conn., and George of Bryan, Ohio; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons. She was predeceased by a daughter, Arlene Peterson who died Sept. 16, 1988.
