Grand Chess
Grand Chess is a chess variant invented by
Christiaan Freeling. It is
very similar to
standard
Chess, with the following exceptions:
- The board is 10x10, and two extra pieces (the Marshal and
Cardinal) have been added.
- Pawns promote optionally on moving to the eighth or ninth rank,
compulsory on moving to the tenth.
- A pawn may only promote to a piece previously lost by its side.
- "Castling" is not allowed.
